My approach

As a yoga teacher and someone who has experienced performance anxiety myself, I understand how important it is to feel relaxed, safe, and joyful in order to let your voice do its thing. My vocal sessions take a holistic approach, supporting the singer as a whole person.

I begin each lesson with breathwork and gentle stretches, helping children develop body and breath awareness while learning that singing is truly a whole-body experience. We then move into vocal exercises to warm up, mobilise, and strengthen the voice, followed by a few short sight-reading exercises, which I will guide you through.

The main part of the session is devoted to repertoire that the student and I choose together. I believe that singing music a student genuinely loves is the best way to keep them engaged and allow their heart to sing.

If desired, we can also work through pieces from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music syllabus, selecting songs from the list that appeal most to the student. Alternatively, we can focus on audition pieces, show songs, or any music the student would like to bring. I am also very happy to suggest repertoire that I feel will suit the student’s voice and interests.
